    Grant M. Barone serves as in-house counsel for The Newtron Group, L.L.C., where he is responsible for a wide range of legal functions, including contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, construction claims, dispute resolution, policy development, training, audits, investigations, and various employment-related matters.

    He earned his Juris Doctorate from LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2015 and holds an undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University (2012).

    Michael Bond joined Markel Surety in January of 2021 as Chief Underwriting Officer – National Accounts.  Prior to Markel Surety, Mr. Bond was Head of Surety for Euler Hermes North America . Prior to Euler, Mr. Bond was with Zurich Insurance Company in a variety of executive roles, including the Head of the Zurich Credit & Political Risk team and the Head of Zurich Surety.  Prior to joining Zurich, Mr. Bond worked as a municipal development advisor with the U.S. Peace Corps in Honduras and as a project manager with Law Environmental in Atlanta, Georgia.

    Mr. Bond is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Surety and Fidelity Association of America (SFAA), the Management Committee of the International Credit Insurance & Surety Association (ICISA) and the Executive Committee of the Pan American Surety Association.  He frequently speaks and publishes on various topics involving construction and surety with groups such as IRMI, the CFM, and the AGC.  He has presented numerous session

    Mr. Bond holds a B.S. from Rutgers University, an M.S. from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from Loyola College. He is fluent in Spanish.  He resides in Olney, Maryland.  He is actively involved in fundraising and advocacy on the behalf of the ALS Association.

He spent eight years in the telecommunications industry where he focused on construction processes. Brad has additional financial and operational audit experience in financial services and utilities.     Chris has been a Managing Partner of the firm since its founding in 2018. Chris has practical operational experience where he served as general counsel and an executive committee member for a regional design builder.     Jim Lundy is a managing director in the Tax & Business Services Division and a member of CBIZ’s national Construction Industry Practice group. With over 35 years of experience, Jim is a highly respected tax consultant in the construction industry, regularly working with more than 350 construction entities. His services include tax compliance reviews, continuity and succession planning, and dealing with federal and state tax authorities.

    Jim is an accomplished speaker and author, recognized multiple times by the Tennessee Society of CPAs as Speaker of the Year and by the Alabama Society of CPAs with the Thomas A. Ratcliff Outstanding Discussion Leader Award. He has been the highest‐rated speaker at AICPA’s National Construction Industry Conference and the AICPA National Tax Conference.

    Jim often provides in‐house training for CPA firms and organizations on tax rules and regulations in the construction industry. He has testified before the Tennessee Tax Commission on multistate contractor taxation and has served in leadership roles, including past chair of the TSCPA Construction Committee and former chairman of the AICPA National Construction Committee. He has also been active in the Continuing Education Committee, the Accounting Careers Committee, the Tennessee Road Builders Investment Committee, and the Board of Directors of the Middle Tennessee Associated Builders and Contractors.

  • AMANDA MESSA

    General Counsel, LEMOINE

    Amanda is General Counsel for LEMOINE – a Louisiana-based ENR Top-400 Contractor since 2011 with a core practice in commercial construction as well as service lines in disaster services, building construction, program services, infrastructure and fuel logistics.   In her capacity as General Counsel for LEMOINE, Amanda serves as a member of the Executive Team and oversees all legal matters for the company including contract review and negotiation, claims resolution, employment matters and general corporate law. She advises Senior Management on issues of policy and procedure, supports the Project Management Teams, and works to mitigate company risk.

    Prior to joining LEMOINE in June 2021, Amanda was a partner with the law firm of Phelps Dunbar where she focused her practice in the area of construction litigation representing owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers in a variety of construction-related disputes on both public and private projects across the state of Louisiana.  Her construction experience includes contractual disputes, bid protests, construction defect claims, delay and impact claims and lien enforcement actions.  In addition to her construction experience, Amanda has also successfully prosecuted and defended matters on behalf of clients in a wide variety of areas including real estate and property disputes, breach of contract claims, business disputes, foreclosures and collection matters.

  • CHERIE PINAC

    Cherie A. Pinac is Chief Legal Officer of EXCEL. She has over 30 years of experience in the legal, regulatory compliance, and risk management industry. Upon graduation from Law School in 1994, Pinac began practicing in the area of environmental, corporate and regulatory law.

    In 1997, she joined Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corporation “LWCC”, the largest workers’ compensation carrier in the State of Louisiana. She served as Vice President and General Counsel for LWCC. During her 13-year tenure with LWCC, Cherie served as General Counsel and provided counsel and advice to executive staff and the Board of Directors. Her responsibilities included management of a 24 member in-house legal division and the Communications and Public Relations Divisions, as well as all aspects of the corporation’s risk management and mitigation programs. Pinac served as Vice President of third party administrator, F.A. Richard and Associates, Inc. (FARA). While at FARA she was responsible for the State of Louisiana Office of Risk Management Program, a $68 million risk management account including workers’ compensation, general liability, property, medical malpractice, and auto, as the Executive in charge of all operations. In addition to General Counsel, throughout her career she has served in operational positions including, COO and CAO. Cherie joined Excel in 2018. As EXCEL's Chief Legal Officer, she is responsible for developing and leading corporate legal strategy to promote and protect the company’s matters.

    Cherie received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Louisiana State University in 1991 and a Juris Doctorate Degree from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1994. Mrs. Pinac is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association. She was appointed by Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco and Governor Bobby Jindal to the Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council and was a member of the Louisiana State University National Diversity Advisory Board. In 2008, she was a Baton Rouge Business Report Top 40 Under 40 Honoree.

    Claire Wilson is the co-founder and COO of Siteline, the first and only billing software built for subcontractors. Previously, Claire was a project manager at Tishman Construction in New York City, where she worked on such monumental projects as Hudson Yards and JP Morgan’s Corporate Headquarters. Her experience there gave Claire a direct view into how construction billing works and why trade contractors need software specific to their workflows. Claire has a BS in Civil Engineering from Bucknell University. She lives in San Francisco, where she serves on the board of the Bay Area Subcontractors Association (BASA). She has spoken at several regional CFMA conferences as well as many construction trade shows.
